Missing persons in a wooded or forested area

SSD also deploys its dogs when people are missing in wooded or forested areas.

The dogs are an asset especially when the person may be in water (ditch, canal) or died in some other way.

To make large-scale searches possible cooperation is effectuated with other rescue organizations (NRHB = Netherlands Rescue Dogs Union, member of  I.R.O.).

Training

Dogs and handlers are given additional training for work in mountainous areas. Handlers make use of maps, compass and GPS.
